Overview

The BSB41004 Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management) qualification is designed to provide basic skills and knowledge across a broad range of management competencies for supervisors and team leaders or those people who want to move into a supervisory role. It is particularly appropriate training for those who have come from a technical/trade background and now find they are supervising others.

Outcomes

Methodology

Part 1: Pre-course readings

The pre-course component involves learning activities and readings that provide a theoretical framework for the specified course. It will familiarise you with the topic and assist in developing the knowledge and skills needed for the formal off the job component. You will need to allow adequate time for pre-course preparation.

Part 2: Formal off the job course

The formal off the job learning component of each course is designed to extend your knowledge and skills and develop managerial skills and support workplace learning and assessment which are an integral part of the Certificate.

Part 3: Work-based assessment project

Each course has a work-based assessment project, which reflects the application of content from the course and aligns with the requisite units of competency. The assessment project allows you to demonstrate the course learning outcomes in a real work situation. The assessment project needs to be submitted within eight (8) weeks of the completion of each course.

Duration

The courses are offered flexibly to enable individuals to complete the qualification within six (6) months. Individuals may choose to enrol in a single course or may continue on to complete the qualification. Courses may be undertaken in any order. The goal is to ensure individual learning needs are addressed and ongoing learning needs are supported.

All off the job courses are conducted on UTS Training & Development Services premises, unless otherwise specified.

This program is ideally suited to individuals currently working in a supervisory role and could include the following backgrounds:

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites to this qualification.

Accreditation

The Certificate of Business (Frontline Management) BSB41004 is nationally accredited through the Vocational Education Training and Advisory Board (VETAB).

National Recognition

UTS Training & Development Services will recognise qualifications and/or Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) based in any State/Territory of Australia.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Many individuals may already be competent in one or more of the Frontline Management competencies. RPL processes are available for each Unit of Competency based on relevant workplace experience, formal training or other expertise. Recognition will involve your submission of evidence in a portfolio form and be assessed by our assessors.

Assessment

Assessment is through workplace projects. All courses include work-based tasks that require learners to compile a range of evidence to demonstrate competency.

Inclusions

All training courses include comprehensive learning materials, assessment, ongoing support and certification on successful completion. Morning and afternoon teas are included in the course.
