Overview

Frontline Management has an important leadership role in the development of the organisation. This will be most evident in the manner in which individuals conduct themselves, the initiative that they take in influencing others and the way they manage their responsibilities. Frontline Management is also responsible for managing their own performance and professional development within the context of the organization.

Who will benefit?

Frontline managers, supervisors, team leaders, coordinators or team members who require the essential elements of providing leadership and developing professional competence in the workplace.

BZBFLM501B Manage personal work priorities and professional development and are to:

Establish personal goals

• Describe how personal work planning and performance requirements serve as a positive role model in the workplace.
• Develop personal work goals and plans that reflect personal plans responsibilities, accountabilities and the organisation’s plans.
• Outline the action to be taken to achieve and extend personal work goals beyond those planned.
• Identify how personal performance is measured and maintained in varying work conditions, work contexts and contingencies.

Set and meet own work priorities

• Demonstrate how to prioritise and facilitate competing demands to achieve personal, team and the organisation’s goals and objectives.
• Describe the technology that can be used to efficiently and effectively manage work priorities and commitments

Develop and maintain professional competence

• Explain how personal knowledge and skills are assessed against competency standards to determine development needs, priorities and plans.
• Identify how feedback from clients and colleagues can be used to develop ways to improve competence.
• Describe how management development opportunities suitable to personal learning style(s) are identified, evaluated, selected and used to develop competence.
• Explain how participation in networks enhances personal knowledge, skills and relationships.
• Identify new skills and ways of development to help achieve and maintain a competitive edge.
