Recognition of Prior LearningRecognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a form of competency based assessment used to determine whether a person has achieved, through informal and/or formal learning and experience the required competence for entry and/or exemption into an accredited learning and assessment program. It is an opportunity to have your competencies, however acquired, formally recognised and credited towards a nationally recognised qualification. In broad terms RPL is an assessment process that involves you matching what you already know and can do with the performance standards of a stated qualification. If you can show that you have already attained the performance standards for one or more training programs you will not have to do those training programs. In this way RPL enables you to focus on developing your skills and knowledge in new areas, rather than relearning what you already know and can do. National Recognition
